This week we’d like to introduce you to Rosa Barba’s work. Barba lives and works in Berlin. Her body of work contains of sculptures, installations, text pieces which are grounded in the material qualities of cinema. Within her work she examines the physical properties of the projector, celluloid and projected light.   Barba investigates environments and weaves stories of place and people into fictitious narratives that open up new possibilities for interpretation. By breaking up pieces of film and rearrange and rescaping them Barba’s works become sculptural dialogues. Her films develop from situations that form societies and landscapes, creating works that reflect both her social and cultural research and her interest in film as a medium and as a physical presence.
