//EMMA HARTVIG
Emma Hartvig’s work is based on her love for cinema and enjoyable, colourful aesthetics. Her work also imitates still images from retro films. The accent lies on the visual presentation that will satisfy your senses. She enjoys the boundaries that the medium of photography provides; “I’m interested in the limitations of a photograph in terms of its narrative capacity to have an image that’s frozen in time”, she explains. You can almost feel the images playing out in slow motion and frozen in time. Symbolism is essential to Hartvig’s work and concepts such as voyeurism and scopophilia are quiet undertones. The images may be glamorous, but there is something lurking beneath the surface. It’s a visual celebration and exploration to the fetish of the photograph.
