Holidays are unfortunately over, but I like to revive the most wonderful time of the year.

“The Christmas Tree Bucket” is a modern-day Christmas story from Trent Parke. A wordless story.

Parke made an ironic take on typical Australian suburban Christmas.

In the real world or the movies, most people experience Christmas as a winter holiday. In Australia people celebrate Christmas not sledding in snow but grilling, often on the beach. Because Down Under Christmas falls in the summer.

Parke photographs friends and family, and register them in a twisted tale that merges fact and fiction.

The viewer is left to an imaginative images of barbeques, screaming children, Christmas trees and baskets full of Christmas gifts. While working on this series, Parke started to think how strange families, suburbia, life and in particular Christmas really was.

Happy New Year!
