//WEEKLY ART REPORT

Dóra Maurer is one of the key figures of the Hungarian art scene since the 1970s. Through her work that consists of staged photography and videos she questions the process of perception, construction of reality and subversion of gender norms. In the early 1980s she began exploring abstract painting and spatial concepts in her conceptual and geometric abstractions in photography, film and graphic art. In Maurer’s art, process is made visible and energy and force become apparent, yet the resulting visual forms are clear, resolved and beautiful. Carried out with a sense of play, her methods almost always result in formally resolved, visually arresting and highly intelligent works of art.
