//SUPER FAST FASHION

As you probably heard, my favorite designer Raf Simons is leaving Dior. He has been designing great collections, but decided to quit after more than 3 years at Dior. The first reason for Raf is 'to focus on other interests in life, including his own brand, and the passions that drive him outside of work'. But leaving Dior has another reason, this reason we call 'Fast Fashion'. January is haute couture; March is ready-to-wear; May is cruise; July couture again; September ready-to-wear again; November resort - or is it cruise again? Personally, I think as a designer it's hard to keep up with all these collections. Next to designing there other tasks to do, like; store openings, interviews, private customers, the advertising campaigns, personal appearances, museum exhibitions and so on. A though job, if you ask me.

Fast fashion is killing the industry. It's something that originated out of the consumer demand. We want more and we got more. But honesty do we really want more? I plead for less fashion, better quality and better working conditions for the people who produce our clothing. Next time you go shopping, think about the sustainability of the piece you're about to buy. Invest in timeless pieces that will last a lifetime, invest in pieces that are timeless and fashionable. Help fashion get healthy again.
