//HEY, HOW ARE YOU?

Usually you answer that question with a simple “good” or “fine”, even when you’re feeling not that particular way. Designer Fiona du Mesnildot highlights this social artificiality of the everyday life with her project Domestic Theatre, consisting of a series of Margiela-esque trompe-l’oeils of a staircase, window and door. She questions the relationship of the authentic self and the domestic space by looking at society as a theatre stage. Life is a performance, one where we are both the actors and the spectators, dressing ourselves in meticulous costumes, identifying with objects as props, and conducting socially accepted behavior as our script.
