His significant experimental way of showing his image of reality inspired several famous artists like van Gogh and Gaugin and was an example for loads of Japanese artists during the 18th and 19th century. Still, in the present time, Hokusai is an inspiration for artists in many different disciplines, such as fashion design and illustration.
